Runva Winches
Runva winches give you serious 4x4 recovery capability at a price well under the premium brands, which is why you'll see them bolted to bull bars in every shopping centre car park in the country. The range covers the popular 11XP and 13XP models in both steel cable and synthetic rope. Choosing the right one starts with a number off your compliance plate, not with the price tag.
Runva 4x4 Winches For Australian Off-Road Conditions
Whether you're bogged to the axles in mud, digging out of soft sand on a beach run, or just want peace of mind on solo trips, a Runva winch gives you a way out that doesn't depend on someone else driving past. Waterproof-rated motors and sealed housings handle water crossings, dust and coastal salt.
Runva 11XP And 13XP Winches
The 11XP delivers 11,000lb of pulling capacity, which suits most mid-size 4WDs and lighter dual-cab utes. The 13XP steps up to 13,000lb for heavier touring rigs, larger wagons and anyone running close to GVM with a full touring fit-out. Both are available with steel cable or synthetic rope, and both are bull bar mountable with wireless remote options.
What Size Runva Winch Do I Need?
Take your GVM from the compliance plate in the driver's door jamb, multiply by 1.5, then multiply by 2.205 to get pounds. Most Australian dual-cab utes land around 11,000lb, which puts them right at the 11XP or comfortably into the 13XP. Size for the vehicle fully loaded rather than empty — that's the state it'll be in on day four of a trip when you actually need it. Our guide on what size winch you need covers the calculation properly.
Synthetic Rope Or Steel Cable On A Runva?
Synthetic rope is lighter, easier to drag out by hand, floats in water crossings, and drops rather than whipping if it fails. Steel is tougher against abrasion on rock and costs less. Both need a damper and bystanders well clear — rope choice adjusts the risk, technique determines it.
Fitting A Runva Winch To Your 4WD
You'll need a bull bar rated for winch loads with an integrated cradle and fairlead provision — browse our 4x4 barwork. Heavy-duty cabling and a healthy battery matter too, since winches draw hundreds of amps at full pull. Compare Runva against the rest of the 4x4 winch range, including Warn winches if you're weighing up premium options.
